This is Uncle Dan. It's been over a year since the last episode of Radio W.C, and I am eager to get back in the podcasting business once again. My father, referred to as 'Grandpa' on Radio W.C. passed away rather suddenly a few weeks after the last episode. That sent us in different directions, none of which had anything to do with podcasting.

But, with this crazy presidential campaign going on and world events going on as they are, I am itching to come back. Mostly it will be just me, Uncle Dan behind the mic, but hopefully I will be able to persuade Abu Snookums to make a few cameos from time to time.

Anyway-I'll post on here where you can find the new podcast. I'm shooting for a week from today as of now, but, things always happen. Hope all of you still have this on your feeds!

Abu Snookums will most likely return on an occasional basis, as it is mainly a scheduling issue.

Just a quick reminder that we are still here and hope to do some more podcasting soon. I saw Bush's interview tonight from 60 Minutes. Oh, man, I don't even know what to say. This guy is a cross between Satan and a retard. Hmmmmm.

It has been a while and we apologize for not having a podcast as of now, but things are in transitional mode around here, and we are hopeful that Radio W. C. can survive. I'll let you folks know either way.

Some 9-11 stuff after that dealing with the upcoming fifth anniversary, like what would have been the best thing to do in Afghanistan and stuff like that. And finally we wrap it up with what U.S. foreign policy should be.

The Debate "Bring it on!"

The president of Iran challenged Bush to a debate. And for some reason it is being portrayed by the press as some sort of backwards attempt at civility.

We have seen tons of press conferences with Bush and other world leaders (Putin, Blair etc.) and some who may or may not agree on all issues.

But, we all know that this debate will not take place.

Why?

Simple. A debate between Bush and Ademenijad would humanize the Iranian leader. If the american people saw him speaking and saying things that made sense it would undermine the administrations foriegn policy which is based on "us vs. them."

If you read the linked article, and look at other things that Ademenijad has said in the past-the guy is not a complete lunatic along the lines of a Bin Laden. In fact, if you look at his relgiious beliefs, one will find that they are no more kooky than the one's that Bush holds dear.

Remember when Bush claimed that god spoke to him and told him to invade Iraq? Also, his policy with Israel is deeply rooted in the belief that the Jews will be our expendable soldiers when Armageddon comes. Ademenijad, similarly, has his version of the apocolypse which includes the return of the "12th Imam"-Abu Snookums can correct me if I am wrong.

So-these guys are pretty much equal when it comes to basing policy on nutty religious thinking. As far as which one is a better speaker, it's pretty tough to say when the American press doesn't let you see much of Ademenijad's oratory skills. but it's not difficult to imagine that Bush would lose.

So, to Bush...I say "c'mon, what are ya...chickkkkeeennnnnnn??" and I will put my hands in my armpits, flap my arms and start clucking.

But, when it comes down to it, a televised debate will make Ademenijad seem like he may actually be a human being, and not the animal that we can kill without any guilt.

As an experiment, we are adding a new feature to Radio W.C.-the brand new Google Notebook. On our Notebook page you will find recources for our stories we cover here, as well as stuff we don't. Usually the link will appear on the right side of the page, and the notebook may even be updated more often than Radio W.C.-so check often!

We will see how well this goes over, but I think it will be quite interesting. On there you will find the stoies that we discuss-or, well, whatever the hell we feel like putting up there. Basically, if I find something interesting online-I'll make a note in the notebook for you all to see.

Zacarias Moussaoui has been the subject of much debate since his shocking testimony in both the guilt and sentencing phases of his terrorism trial. Particularly offensive were his statements about the 9/11 victims. The extent of his involvement in planning the attacks that took their lives remains in question. But one thing is clear: Moussaoui is a misguided and dangerous individual. His words and deeds show that he subscribes to values that are directly opposed to the true message of Islam.

I am an American, and I am a Muslim. In the mind of Zacarias Moussaoui that is probably a contradiction. Sadly some Americans might agree with him; those who believe that to be an “American” one must be a certain color or a certain religion. People like Moussaoui have an absolute intolerance for those who they perceive to be “different.” As proud Americans we should aspire to be better than that.

The “clash of civilizations” that we often hear about is neither ongoing nor inevitable. Where there is conflict it is between people and nations, and it is rarely “civilized.” But Western states and Muslim-majority governments cooperate peacefully every day sharing resources, technology and culture. Good people, regardless of faith or culture, work together across the globe to improve the human condition. Prominent Muslim leaders and organizations have repeatedly and forcefully condemned acts of terrorism and violence. And yet Moussaoui and those like him continue to advocate unprovoked violence while spreading their messages of hatred and fear.

The Prophet Muhammad said, “A Muslim is the one with whom people feel safe from harm by mouth or hand.” Although it is not for me to judge who is and who is not a Muslim, I can say that I feel safer knowing that Zacarias Moussaoui is locked up for good.

We got a mention in the Dayton Daily News. The main focus of today's installment is the fervor over South Park censoring the image of Muhammad out of their most recent episode (or so we are lead to believe). And, from that, we discuss 'Family Guy' and why it is NOT as good as the Simpsons.

The main problem is the reactionary media-rather than the source-on both sides of the arguement. We just don't need to over-react to cartoon poop.

Finally, we extrapolate all the way to Tom Cruise (and go ahead and boycott Mission Impossible III-you know it's gonna suck anyhow), and why he is an idiot. Plus, if you are a Scientologist, and are offended by this episode-email us and tell us why we are insensitive jerks!

There's a big stink over this teacher in Colorado who is spreading "Anti-Bush propaganda." The student who complained recorded a portion of a class just after Pres. Bush's State of the Union address. Here it is, from the local news webstie for your consideration.

Now, is the lecture anti-Bush? If giving an excellent demonstration of applied critical thinking is anti-Bush, than it is.

Is it anti-American? If anti-American means teaching students to value all peoples and national interests as equal-than it may be.

Anti-capitalism? Shouldn't a well rounded student be exposed to the pros and cons of any political or economic system?

At the end of the recording, he stresses that he does not care whether you agree or disagree, but he is just trying to give students some critical thinking skills. And now-thanks to the student (who asks predictable neo-con type questions) he is being investigated by the district, and may even be fired.

The skill of critical thinking is lacking in America today-which is one of the reasons that we have an idiot like Bush in the White House.

Rather than being fired, this guy deserves a medal.

BTW, at the beginning of the video is an ad-I have neither positive nor negative feelings about Frontier Airlines. Therefor, I cannot endorse them, but, I have yet to hear of one crashing, so, I guess I'd fly on it if it had the best fare.

Dick Cheney hunts humans for sport!!!

The recent hunting mishap by Vice President Dick Cheney the other day brought up some rumor that I had heard a few years back. Specifically, that Cheney and his friends go out on his large ranch in Wyoming and hunt human targets.

Now, personally, I doubt this to be true, for two reasons:

1) As evil of a neo-con asshole bastard JERK that he is, it takes a certian psychosis and mental instability to actually shoot a person for sport--look at John Muhammad (DC sniper) as an example. And it would seem to me that such a mental disorder would be inconsistant with the political savvy and whatnot that will get you high enough up the ladder to be V.P.

2) In these times with our instant communications and various press leaks-he would never have gotten away with it (especially since these rumors imply that this 'Human Hunt' is an annual-or at least frequent-event).

But, as I write this...I think that anything is at least REMOTELY possible.

Just some food for thought if Cheney ever invites you to spend some time at his ranch.

Inspired by that, we have a sting of our own in mind: We will troll the internet pretending that we are arms dealers with a nuclear missle for sale, and see if we can catch terrorists who come to the house to pick it up...it will work probably as well as the real "War on Terror" has worked out.

A Very W.C. Christmas

Well...time has gotten the better of us again, as it has been a week or so since our last podcast. Scheduling conflicts among other stuff manage to get in the way. But, the annual Christmas celebration has come and gone and I figured I'd share an observation or two...

My first observation is simple: CHRISTMAS IS INEVITABLE-nothing can be done to stop it.

Not a single member of the family goes to a Christian church, and the most religious members are Muslims-nonetheless, the small tree was up, and gifts were exchanged. Yes, even Abu Snookums did a bit of Christmas shopping. Plus, Baby Snooks enjoyment of his See-n-Say and his oversized lego-type blocks made the 45 minute wait in like at Toys-r-us worth every agonizing minute with sore feet!

Whether you are a Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, Taoist, Shaman, Zoroastrian, Druid, or whatever-if you live in America during the month of December-you have to deal with Christmas. You have to hear Christmas music, eat Christmas food, drink Cristmas drinks, smell Christmas scents, and fight your way through Christmas shopping.

Traffic on Friday by the Mall was a disaster-and I sure as hell wasn't going IN the mall-I stayed on the outskirts. Toys for Snooks, books for Grandpa, soap and candy for Grandma-and Abu Snookums now owns a special edition of Monty Python's the Meaning of Life DVD. But, it is such a commercialized shopping FRENZY. Is there a point to all of this if you are not an observant Christian? (and-correct me if I am wrong-but I think Jesus was really born in March or something, nobody really knows for sure).

Well, like it or not, I get that nostalgic feeling like the rest of us do. Every year we seem to hope for the "ideal" Christmas. The one with the perfect tree, the entire family around, the scent of pine in the air, and all of the traditions that have been a part of Christmas seemingly forever (but really less than 200 years).

It's all nice...but, do we REALLY need SANTA CLAUS?? The Santa claus hoax has to be the single greatest conspiracy of deception in the history of mankind. The Kennedy assassination has nothing on it. I was watching the NEWS tonight, and there was a report of how Santa does his job all in one night. NORAD has a website where you can track his journey on Christmas Eve! I even heard a news report where a first grade teacher was nearly fired from her job because she told her class that Santa Claus didn't exist!! Sure, I guess it's a fun fairy tale, but, I say, let's stop with the Santa shit! The government already lies to children-let's stop making parents lie to them too. If you look at the history you will find that the present view of Santa Claus is just an invention of greedy corporations getting parents to spend MORE money to make their pocketbooks fatter. DON'T BUY THE LIE!

Perhaps the best thing to do on Christmas may be to work in a soup kitchen, or help the needy-maybe take some of that Xbox 360 money and buy a pair of long underwear for some homeless dude in the street.

Yea, I know, I did NOT do that-but, the giving has mostly been more fun than the receiving anyway.

Been a while

Well, Abu Snookums and I have been busy lately, and time just flies by. We will have a new podcast soon, but we just wanted to let you know we haven't forgotten or anything like that.

Between two sick young'uns, and jobs (yes, both of us have actual jobs), and other stuff-we just haven't been able to get together as much recently. Who knows? We may do one as soon as tonight, but I'd feel a bit safer predicting one at least by or through the weekend.

Admitting mistakes

Uncle Dan here, with just a few words here between podcasts.

I heard most of President Bush's speech this morning...and...pretty much, more of the same useless shit came out of his mouth. I get so sick of hearing about the so-called "War on Terror" and Sept. 11th. When will it end? O well, we can keep talking about that.

But the one thing that bugs me to NO end-NOT only about this president, but about people in general: WHY IS IT CONSIDERED WEAK FOR ONE TO ADMIT A MISTAKE???

Personally, I was raised with the notion that, if you make a mistake, own up to it, swallow your pride, and humbly admit it. Nobody is perfect. I know if you were to ask, both myself and Abu Snookums could come up with mistakes and errors we have made in our lives, and I'm sure all those who read this can as well.

In my personal life I see this as well. People will make any excuse to cover-up a mistake in order to make themselves look good. All a part of the "tough guy" metality that has seemingly taken over. Us Americans are getting collectively dumber every day.

If Bush simply gave a speech that said something to the effect of "I'm sorry, we mis-read the intelligence, and we underestimated (or misunderestimated) the ferocity of the insurgentds...and I apologize."

But, even if he meant it, which is up to much doubt-he would never say it. Because his constituancy is full of these macho beer drinkin' tough talkin' guys who think admitting one's mistakes is akin to having sex with another man.

Well, I just don't get it. Bush's base would go nuts if he were humble.

The way I was raised, humility is a virtue-but, it's not in this country anymore.

Yes, it's our 50th anniversary, and we take a trip down memory lane to share the highs, the lows, the triumphs, the defeats, and the Western Star for 50 years.

From the days when we were broadcasting from someone's barn on the most powerful radio station in the country (which was impeded due to the fact that our frequency was 490khz, out of range of most radios), to the days when FM was all the rage, and we pumped out the truth on 109.4FM (still wondering why our only response came from small aircraft).

Also, as a special suprise to our faithful fans for the past 50 years, we present Radio W.C.'s VERY FIRST episode, from back in November 1955. And a big thanks to all the support you have given over the years.

New Arrival

Baby Snooks II was welcomed into the world at approximately 2:30 this morning. At almost 8lbs. he weighs in slightly bigger than his older brother at his birth weight.

After a short discussion of the auntumn weather, we discuss the results of the 2005 election. By the way-the Lebanon School Tax levy did pass, but by a rather narrow margin (51-48%).

Uncle Dan gave his theory of why Issues 2, 3, 4, and 5 failed-and why it's not the end of the world, since the GOP is finally gettin' what's coming to them in other parts of the country.

But, all in all, lots of good things happened across the country-so there is a glimmer of hope for the future.

Well, as of this posting, it looks as if Ohio Ballot Issues 2, 3, 4 and 5 are going down to defeat. I did my best, I cast my vote, but it wasn't enough it seems. It was a good attempt to do something about the problems in this state. Issue 2 seems like easily the best-early voting would be very helpful.

But, the GOP's forces worked here. The good news however, is that VA and NJ have elected Democratic governors-so there is hope for the future of the nation, if not for Ohio.

Eid Mubarak! Somebody out west saw the crescent moon tonight so the Muslim Eid celebration starts Thursday in the U.S. Don't ask me to explain this moonsighting stuff. Until tonight we all assumed it wouldn't be seen until tomorrow night but as it is Ramadan is over and I don't have to fast tomorrow! All praise be to God! The last few days fo Ramadan have been real busy for me so we haven't done a podcast in over a week. We'll do one tomorrow and I fear we might just have to talk about Bill O'Reilly. This guy is beyond out of control.

Well tune in and you'll know what I'm talking about. It's amazing. I almost never watch him and the one time I do he manages to honk me off. What a turd. Oh well. Just wanted to let everyone know we're still alive and kickin' here in the W.C.

HALLOWEEN IN THE W.C.

Ahh, autumn! Time for the harvest, football, and Halloween. I'm sure most of us have fond memories of trick-or-treating, eating waaay too much candy, carving jack-o-lanterns, listening to scary stories or songs, and watching bad horror movies.

But...it used to be simple. The decorations in the yard were pretty much limited to one jack-o-lantern per child in the household. Now, as I travel about the highways and biways of the W.C. and surrounding environs, I see the following: Inflatable spiders, inflatable Frankenstiens, scarecrows, gravestones with monsters coming out of the ground. Yesterday I saw an entire yard that was transformed into a cemetary complete with skeletons rising from their graves.

Is this too much emphasis on imagery and materialistic stuff? A Muslim, or religious Christian may say 'yes.' Yet another distraction of our American culture that is already filled with enough distractions as it is. And besides-as I have seen for myself, inflatable monsters and spiders just make a front yard look like a mess after a wind storm.

And also, having just spent some time with Baby Snooks himself-he'd probably look adorable dressed as a bunny rabbit or a little pumkin or something. It would be difficult for him not to want to go trick-or-treat with all of the societal pressure to do so. I guess there is a fine line between participating, and placing real importance on Halloween. Especially-Halloween during Ramadan-now THERES a dichotomy for ya. The American festival of childhood gluttony meets the Islamic month of fasting and restraint.

But, if we were allowed to trick-or-treat after sunset, like in the old days-it might just work out. Luckily, I'm only Baby Snooks uncle, and I don't have to worry about it.

Rethinking hurricane season thanks to global warming

As Tropical Storm Wilma is gathering strength, and will probably become a hurricane soon, we realize that we have simply run out of names for these storms. From what I understand-if another storm develops this year, they will start with the Greek alphabet (Alpha, Beta, Gamma...). How boring is that? And, with global warming only beginning to be felt, it will probably soon be the norm to have 25, 26, 30 hurricanes in a year. And these hurricanes need proper names.

And, since this would be the first year-it will be SOOO easy. The storm following Wilma should be Xavier, then Yolanda, and Zachary. Then, lets just start NEXT year's names. That'll show us-especially when, in September of 2037, the gulf has been blasted by the 14th catagory 7 hurricane of the year.

Yea, we should add more catagories too-five catagories for a Hurricane is SOOO 20th century. In one hundred years when the wind speeds of these storms get to 300mph, catagory 5 won't just cover it. We'll just call it catagory: Holy Mother of Fuck!

We have not brought up bush's nomination of Harriet Miers as of yet on Radio W.C., but if anything is symptomatic of the the president's present downward spiral-this is it. The right-wingers are starting to bail. Bush is trying like hell to appease them, by saying she is a christian conservative, but it's not working.

Of course, it is blatant 'cronyism' (a word I hate-but, whatever works), but, this is what happens when a president is desperate. It's amazing that he even found the time in his schedule to try to cover his ass with her nomination, in between covering his ass by making umpteen million trips to New Orleans to try to show Kanye West that he cares about black people.
